What does Earth Day Have To Do With Sexual Purity?
Earth Day was created to take some time and reflect on God’s beautiful creations and the NEED to take care of it. It was a job given to us at the very beginning of time. “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15). You can see His signature written everywhere from the morning sunrise to the intricate veins found in the leaves. Unfortunately in a society where the individual has become god, taking care of something other than yourself has become a lost art leaving us not only with a dirty Earth but a hurting people.
As you can see, God has shown me connections from Disney World to Earth Day in regards to sexual purity for YOU. It’s not just about the STDs and teen pregnancy. It goes much deeper than that because sexual immorality affects more than just you and more than just your physical body. Sexual immorality affects a WHOLE person just as it affects a WHOLE generation. Taking care of the Earth and taking care of each other are in relation because it was God’s original design. Eating McDonald’s and then throwing the garbage out the window is like having sex with someone and then sending them home in a cab. Here are some things to keep in mind:
CHALLENGE!! Regardless of your age right now I’m challenging you to think outside of yourself. The same way Jesus looked outside Himself when He died for you. I believe you can do it!
1) Behaviors/Habits YOU create now– Everything you do now will carry over into your marriage and future children. Just like if people don’t care about the Earth, it will make it harder and harder for the next generation to live. It’s the same if you continuously have premarital sex. It will be difficult remaining sexually pure during your marriage and you’ve already seen the consequences in society.
2) Little by little- I’m not 100% green but I AM trying. Little by little I’ve been changing habits. There have been times when I messed up and threw out plastic in the garbage rather than the recycling bin. However, I still continue to try. In this journey of sexual purity, there may be times where you mess up but DON’T GIVE UP! KEEP GOING!
3) Taking CARE of each other– God calls us to really truly care for each other. Can you take a moment and think about what this means? What does it look like? Is there someone in your life who has shown you this type of care? If you don’t know, feel free to research it. I’ll leave the rest up to you.
“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18)
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philip. 2:3-4)
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Gal. 6:9)
Baskets of Blessings!
Jesus, family, ministry, and lots of coffee! My heart comes from being a young teen girl who didn’t know much and found Jesus in a dark time. My ministry focuses on the heart of God for this generation to make Godly decisions especially in the area of purity. A blog for all ages because God’s Word is eternal and has no age limit!
